A couple of weeks ago, I had the urge to read independent!Harry fanfics. For whatever reason, good old Dumbles/Weasley!bashing interested me.

However, despite browsing FFnet's 100k+ list of fanfics, I didn't find many long (very loooong) independent!Harry fics >_<
Would you believe this, I even read Harry/Hermione fics because I couldn't find any other interesting stories. I did draw the line at Harry/Ginny (can't stand that girl, way too much hero worshiping and James/Lily VS Harry/Ginny parallel. She (JKR) had him marry a carbon copy of his mother, for Merlin's sake! O.o) and Harry/Daphne, ../Susan and such (Mary Sue, hellooo!).

So yeah, I read those fics, browsed for hours, and didn't find many attractive plots.
So of course, I had to think about my own story. Well, it was more of a "what would I like to read about, what kind of independent!Harry would I like to see", and bang! Hello Plot Bunny!

I resisted for two weeks! I'm proud of myself. Then I had a slow afternoon at work today, and my word processor was calling to me, and I just thought that I might as well write down that damned outline, just to get it out of my head.
4'000 words later, I'm barely into third year of the outline, which isn't really an outline anymore, but more of a really condensed story, and that plot bunny developed itself to near epic proportions.

As a result, I might publish a new Harry Potter WIP someday. If I do, I probably won't bother with more than a cursory beta-reading, because I don't want to invest myself in another fic like I did with Guide.

Well, we'll see ;p

The funny thing in all this, is that I only wanted to write a couple of sentences about HP7-2.
I finally ended up writing a novel, because when thinking about the Pensieve moment I had the urge to re-watch it and I ended up re-watching the whole movie \O/ xDDD

I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean IV today (and I laughed my ass off all along xD).

But the important point is that there was a preview for HP7 part, the second, at the beginning, and they opened the preview with a few eerie notes from that oh so, so beautiful music that will stay forever the theme of Harry Potter and just with that my excitement part just went through the roof. I couldn't wait for PoC to begin, but when I heard the HP music I was all OH YEAH, IT'S COMING SOON, WAAAANT!

Which is kind of ironic, as I haven't seen any movies after the fourth xDDDD BUT! I'm hoping that they will have a sort of HP marathon at the cinema for the release of the last installment. Even if 8 x 3h = O.O 'I don't think so'. No matter. If they don't give us that marathon, I'll make my own at home ;p

Now, for the really important part of this post:

Last week-end, the Swiss ML challenged us: we had to write 10, 20 or 30k and we would get rewards (namely, a postcard and/or a sticker and/or a ficlet). ^_^

The idea really thrilled me! I so wanted that postcard and sticker, to stick them somewhere obvious, so that I could show off my Nanowrimo writing skills, and I DID IT!!!!

I managed to churn out 20'000 words between Friday and Monday O_o I impressed myself there!

So, what should have been a 2'000 HP fanfic just grew without my knowing it to a 26k monster, and it's still not done ^^;;; Also, I had decided to work on Guide for this Nanowrimo and so far I only wrote 5'000 words -_- I'm so far from the end of this story, it's not even funny ^^;;;

Anyway, somehow I didn't fell like writing this week, so I just didn't. Seeing as I have all the words needed up till Sunday 21th (35k), it wasn't so important, even if I missed a few days :p So I spent my week re-reading The Sentinel and Stargate Atlantis fanfics XD Gaia, I love those so much!

As a side note, I have 1'349 fics bookmarked on Delicious O_O I began bookmarking every fic I read in December 2008 and I know for a fact that the fic I read from February to April this year haven't been bookmarked, but still 1'300 fics! Holy S***!!!
Also, I save a backup of every fic I read, as well as bookmarking them. I save them in 'html only', no images or anything that could weight down the text file. I have now 829 Mo of text files... Again, Holy S***! O_O

IT'S THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PAIRING SEVERUS/HARRY!!!

O.O Oh Gaia, can you believe it?! Ten years! Ten years that we've been reading/writing fics about Snarry!!! ^________________________________^

Even if for me it has 'only' been 6 years. Somehow, my friends' descriptions and particularly the first movie didn't appeal to me and I didn't read the books before 2006.

I still remember what pushed me to buy the books.
I was reading the fics of a great, French author (lychee_ln) and when I finished reading her fics in whatever fandom I was in at the time (probably Gundam Wing), I couldn't stop.
I saw that she had written HP fics as well, but didn't want to read fics when I hadn't even read the books. So I dithered for a while, but finally caved in.

And that how I read my first HP fanfiction which happened to be a Severus/Fred/Georges fic!!! ^_______________^

I guess that how I caught the Snape mania virus ;p From there, I read and read and read and bought the books. XDD I read the first four that very week ^^;;
I found a website that archived a lot of French HP fanfictions (it was Ombre et Folie. The website doesn't exist anymore, but the yahoo group is still there, even if inactif: http://fr.groups.yahoo.com/group/leena_et_dod_cie/). And I read, hundred of fanfics. At the time, I was already mostly reading Snarry fics ^___^ I think that there that I began detest WIPs as well ^^;;;

So I read and one day, I read a translation of Cybele's If You Are Prepared Series. But the translation was incomplete, so I went and read the thing in English. I had very little experience with English at the time. I wasn't particularly a good student, even if I had learned English for years at the time, and I had only read one other fic in English: Askerian's Teamwork Naruto fanfic.
Now that I think about it, it's pretty funny: I probably didn't understand a word out of three, but I still cried like a baby when I read If you are prepared's end. (there goes my appreciation of angst fics. I love well written fics, but afterward I feel so depressed T_T).

Then I found Midnight Blue's Mirror of Maybe. Six years later, I'm still waiting with starry eyes for the next chapters. I hope she'll finish it one day ^^ For this one, same song: read the translation first, but it wasn't finished, so I switched to English.

After that, I didn't bother anymore. I only read English fics, except for the few French authors (lychee_ln, zazaone) that I really loved.

And that how I spent the last six years reading HP fanfics, especially Snarries ^___________^
